Thames Path Ramble 19: Tuesday 15th March 2016
Staines to Weybridge Ferry, which is about
6½ miles.
Sue and Jem, Jean, John, Margaret H., Dot, Julie, Ann, Peter and Sue, Ian and I
have walked this stretch. The weather was cool and cloudy, but dry.
A London
Stone, one of a number of boundary stones, which formerly marked the limits of
jurisdiction of the City of London.
Two statues at the beginning of our walk; Water nymphs and Swan master.
A friendly volunteer painter helped us
along our
way at Penton Hook Lock. You never know what you are going to see next.
Traditional boat builder, Michael Dunnett, at Laleham.
One of a row of unusual house boats
Looking over to the M3, which we went under.
This tree is in Dumsey Meadow, traditionally a water meadow.
Another rather different house boat.
This boat was under wraps when we passed by.
Then, at the end of our walk we rang a bell and paid £2 each to cross the river back to the southern, Weybridge, bank of the Thames and back to our cars.
